he's still not getting it...
Speaking yesterday, about global warming, he said, in effect, that he would not support any counter measures which would "hurt or damage the economy".
I've got news for him...
An economic train wreck is utterly unavoidable.
Here's why:
Any measure, or group of measures, effective enough to reduce the CO2 levels on the planet fast enough to prevent a global warming catastrophe of economy-trashing proportions, will, ipso facto, trash the economy.
Let me put it to you another way: If we keep "the economy" going, the planet gets trashed which in turn will trash "the economy". If we implement measures capable of saving the planet, "the economy" gets trashed.
So, "the economy" is a dead duck anyway.
Now maybe we're ready to address the REAL issue: The global population has reached plague proportions and something has to be done FAST to vastly shrink it, or it's "Goodbye, Mother Earth."
2 Comments:
I wouldn't worry, Mother Nature has it in hand. Bird Flu, HIV, a new strain of TB will see off the human plague soon enough. She's also doing a nice line in skin cancer, smog related lung cancer and pesticide emasculation.
Well, BRING IT ON!!! The sooner the saner lifeforms on the planet can get back to a life in which they are not being bulldozed into extinction by Homo Egomanicus, the better.
BTW, I was wondering when someone was going to pick me up on the embedded absurdity i.e. that if we do vastly shrink global population quickly enough to avert eco-disaster, that this too will crash the economy.
Ergo, the economy is stuffed and John Winston Canute will be able to do phuque all to prevent it.
I want the Nobel Prize in Economics for this revelation.
