Nothing in this blog can be believed. If you think that anything in this blog is true or factual, you'll need to verify it from another source. Do you understand? No? Then read it again, and repeat this process, until you understand that you cannot sue me for anything you read here. Also, having been sucked into taking part in the mass-murder of more than 3 million Vietnamese people on behalf of U.S. Big Business "interests", I'm as mad as a cut snake (and broke) so it might be a bit silly to try to sue me anyway...

Selling off the farm

There seems to be some concern about foreign ownership of Australian businesses and real estate.

What do you think should be done about it?

Discuss.

Spooky...

A tale of three elephants...

There are THREE elephants in the room:

[1] Anthropogenic climate change.

[2] Energy addiction.

[3] The environment.

Good luck...

Triple bottom line

Triple bottom lines are all the go way up in Ironbark...

Here's a trio which should get your mental juices flowing:

[1] If we do nothing to prevent catastrophic climate change happening, then those catastrophes, collectively, will crash the global economy.

[2] If we take the measures required to prevent catastrophic climate change, we will crash the global economy.

[3] Accepting that the size of the global population is the biggest elephant in the room, and if something were to happen which brought it down to a sustainable size in time to prevent catastrophic climate change, the economy would crash.

Ergo, the economy will crash.

We are now merely arguing about the best way to deal with it.

Hype mania

From yesterday's paper:

Sydney shivers
Sydney's coldest day in more than a year...

It then went on to point out that the last time it was this cold was on July 2 last year.

So... it was this cold around about this time last year?

This is news?

The best policies money can buy...

Once again we have Big Business running multi-million dollar political advertising campaigns in order to influence public opinion. This time it's the Big Polluters seeking to "educate" the public about what's "wrong" with a tax on carbon.

So here's the new, improved political cycle:

[1] MegaCorp runs megabuck campaigns to brainwash the public.

[2] Public opinion polls reflect these new, 'improved', 'whiter than white' opinions.

[3] The government becomes unpopular and either abandons its policy or it gets voted out of office.

[4] Either way, MegaCorp gets the policies it wants.

Who said democracy doesn't work?
