Nothing in this blog can be believed. If you think that anything in this blog is true or factual, you'll need to verify it from another source. Do you understand? No? Then read it again, and repeat this process, until you understand that you cannot sue me for anything you read here. Also, having been sucked into taking part in the mass-murder of more than 3 million Vietnamese people on behalf of U.S. Big Business "interests", I'm as mad as a cut snake (and broke) so it might be a bit silly to try to sue me anyway...

..and it makes you (subliminally) rush out and buy a carton of James Boags beer?

Would you believe that have heard that the chinese have bought out/into Boags?

Would it make a difference?

San Miguel (Philippines) bought Boag's Brewery in 2000. It was sold to Lion Nathan (Australasian) in 2007. Lion Nathan is 100% owned by the Kirin Brewing Company and San Miguel is 48% owned by the Kirin Brewing Company. Kirin, in turn, is part of the Mitsubishi group.

Kirin are using the Lion Nathan brand to market beer in China. This would involve some local ownership in China. AFAIK the Australasian business is 100% owned by Kirin.

Thanks, Andrew. Interesting information. I don't drink beer often and only rarely do I drink Boag's. But I love that ad.

@Lemmiwinks: you are correct, Coopers is the only major brand that is Australian owned. In fact, absent the CUB, Cascade and Coopers products and everything is owned by Lion Nathan.

However, I see from this Wikipedia page that there are over 100 microbreweries in Australia - I am now redesigning my motorcycle excursions so I can visit all of them:

oh Gerry, AndrewM beat me to it.
I like the ad too though. The Sirens who lured the sailors onto the island is a mythological tale.

Mitsubishi own King Island Dairy products, and PURA milk, Yoplait, and a lot more on your grocery shopping list. Japan owns 75% of Gunns Pulp Mills too.

Yeah, we're all commenting on something else, aren't we? I like the ad, great atmosphere. The 'Russell Falls' one is funnier, but.

OK, your link worked for me this afternoon, so I can't explain this morning. I see, however, that they aren't exactly the same ad: yours is the 90 second spot and mine was the 60 second spot. The longer one is better.
