Australia slides further towards fascism...
Tim Dunlop has a nice piece on it:
(Anti-Iraq war) protesters could easily be deemed to be being disloyal (that was the thrust of Howard's comments, after all) or of indirectly inciting terrorism. As an anti-war activist, that's exactly the bit I'm most concerned about. Since when is shutting down dissent the action of a democratic government?
Be alert and alarmed. Adolf HoWARd has seized the Reichstag...

The earlier Road to Surfdom piece - Dragnet - was alarming enough: the UK's anti-terrorism laws allowed a pedestrian to be charged with trespassing on a cycle path. You know what cyclists are like: just let them get wind of this possibility, and they'll take over the bloody world! There'll be nowhere safe to walk.
And as you know, CynicMan, if you don't laugh, you cry.
And it's amusing and heartening that this draft is now generating so much public comment, don't you think? After the way the Govt tried to sneak it through the Senate? God bless Jon Stanhope, and thank goodness we still have public media able to run with what he gave them.
D, the rodent is now denying Stanhope access to subsequent drafts. What is it about short people...
