Thanks for that pointer to Webdiary. Excuse me if I remain sceptical when statisticians speechify. I will defend them though by saying that it's usually people who misconstrue or deliberately misinterpret the meaning of the numbers. There's the number (stat) and then there's what you're having it mean. The devil usually lurks in the latter.
