Nothing in this blog can be believed. If you think that anything in this blog is true or factual, you'll need to verify it from another source. Do you understand? No? Then read it again, and repeat this process, until you understand that you cannot sue me for anything you read here. Also, having been sucked into taking part in the mass-murder of more than 3 million Vietnamese people on behalf of U.S. Big Business "interests", I'm as mad as a cut snake (and broke) so it might be a bit silly to try to sue me anyway...

the world at war...

I was watching "The World At War" on the ABC (for you foreigners, that's the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, the last vestage of non-corporate-propaganda TV.)

And the subject was the rise of the Nazis in Germany, 1933-1938.

I found some of the parallels with America and even here in Australia disturbing:
The anti-communist diatribes.
The passing of "emergency" laws.
The arrests (without trial) of dissidents and political "enemies".
The increased use of propaganda and fear (people were too afraid to protest).
Universal conscription.
Propaganda took on a Christian form, but a Nazi substance.

But the most ominous thing was a comment by one of the German interviewees who described those times in this way: "Something wrong was going on, but the thing to oppose it didn't exist."

Guard your right to protest jealously my fellow citizens, lest you lose it whilst you sleep...

Well said!

But I'm worried that the only reason we've been given the right to protest is because they know they don't have to listen. Sometimes I think I'm the only person in town who can spot the world's going mad! Thank God for Bloggers!

They ARE treating the people with utter contempt. They are "educating" the masses knowing that this "education" works incredibly well. That's why the preferred system is "democracy". After the masses have been "educated", they will vote the way they should...

What's needed is for those who can see through this sham to educate, educate, educate. Like mad. Never stopping.

Protest, peaceful people power, is the only way that system can be brought down. We need to turn the tide of public opinion. But if violence poisons this struggle, the system will use that to discredit us and will use the violence as an excuse to let loose their war machine.

The only thing that can beat this system is ceaseless education of the public and to use protest for stategic effect. But to get the numbers on the street, education is the only valid tool.

What worries me is the number of people on the Left side of politics who do not rule out violence as a valid response.

I know how the military machine works and thinks and these deluded hot-heads would sabotage their own cause
and get themselves and their best friends killed rather than embrace Gandhiesque methods.

They worry me more than the system itself because they would create the sort of environment that would destroy all hope.

Thanks for the heads-up, BigBob. Very disturbing. And the Mayer thing is very spot-on as well.

The thing that worries me is that we have all the historic precedents and examples to alert us to what is happening, and still our own ALP is utterly subservient to America. What hope is there for us? What is the ALP not telling us about why it too sold us out to the Yanks? So may questions, so few answers.

Desert Storm was a wank as well, but Hawke and the rest of Australia went "rah rah rah, it's off to war we go." And then we not only took part in the 10 year
blockade if Iraq, we bloody well LED it towards the end. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...

Two things to remember 1) a good cop doesn't believe in coincidence and 2) follow the money! I don't know if you know who Ralph Nader is, but he very astutely pointed out that the Republicans and the Democrats are just different wings of the same party!!! I would bet any amount of money that there isn't a quid's worth of difference between the Labour and Liberal Parties. Either side would have signed on for this wonderfull adventure...

Yep, DS, There's stuff-all difference between Labor and Liberal. Why? One always was a pro-capitalism party, and the other one has of late sold out to capitalism. Utterly. Capitalism is now engaged in a fierce onslought against all barriers to its world conquest. After that, forget it baby. Stop it now or rollover, red rover..

But most Americans (and Australians), thanks to fifty years (two generations) of anti-socialist, anti-communist lies and propaganda (not to mention wars), actually believe these ideologies are evil and bad.

And partly to blame for this are those left-wing ideologies themselves because they scared the living daylights out of "the west" with their totalitarian, gun barrell methods and their global aspirations. I mean, if you scare people into fearing for their lives, don't bitch if they try to kill you.

I advocate a pacifist, democratic, Gandhiesque socialism. But I lose hope when I hear the militant fuckwits on the left undermine the whole process. Also, I don't even know if it's possible. I can't seem to find the intellectual leadership for this.

But I'll keep looking for the time being.

I couldn't agree more. We're brainwashed from the moment of birth and most of my fellow countrymen have never had an original thought in their lives, but as they say 'ignorance is bliss.' By the time they wake up to what's going on it will be too late. I could give a toss about them, but I hate to think of what life's gonna be like for my grand children! I have a younger brother and my own son think I'm just a raving lunatic - they think the sun shines outta Bush's arse. What do you do? - I'm here in the heart of dumbass, redneck country and even the left here is right of centre compared to any other country I've lived in. You know what pisses me off the most - the most arrogant of the arrogant bastards have contributed nothing to this country or to the good of the world!!! Phuk it - gonna have a smoke and another drop of burgundy - Happy New Year!
