Nothing in this blog can be believed. If you think that anything in this blog is true or factual, you'll need to verify it from another source. Do you understand? No? Then read it again, and repeat this process, until you understand that you cannot sue me for anything you read here. Also, having been sucked into taking part in the mass-murder of more than 3 million Vietnamese people on behalf of U.S. Big Business "interests", I'm as mad as a cut snake (and broke) so it might be a bit silly to try to sue me anyway...

Penis envy gone mad?

Clive Hamilton has nailed it >>>

I hope the misandristic "feminist" blogger who sprayed her bile all over me and labelled me a misogynist when I tried to debate this very issue with her on her blog a while ago has read Hamilton's article. But I suspect she's 100% clueproof.

Anyhow, forget about her, what do YOU think of Hamilton's article?

Among other things, Clive Hamilton said: "We do not want to think about women soldiers returning with their faces blown off, for we know we will feel a special kind of guilty revulsion."

I contest that. I will feel the same guilty revulsion whether the soldier is male or female. And in modern war it is quite possible to get your face blown off without being anywhere near the 'front line', meaning load masters can be just as much at risk as their Austeyr toting sisters.

Most commentary that I've seen agrees with AndrewM's point.

However, in a supreme piece of irony, the word verification is "master".

You couldn't make it up, could you?

And just to make the point: we're not talking about women fixing bayonets and going 'over the top'. Modern warfare isn't like that. It's more like the following (with huge apologies to Tom Clancy). Spot the difference between these two scenarios:

MODERN WARFARE 1: WOMEN NOT ALLOWED IN FRONT-LINE ROLES

PILOT (male, reporting to base): Coming to 32000, preparing for patrol pattern.
WEPS (Weapons Officer, male, to Pilot): I have a possible bogey coming through 16000, dead ahead 70 klicks. No transponder.
PILOT (to base): We have possible bogey on intercept. Request weapons free.
BASE (female, after checking with a superior): Weapons free aye. Fire at will.
WEPS: Definite bogey. Warcraft. Trying to light us up.
PILOT: Designate Target 1. Arm missile.
WEPS: HunterSeeker armed. Second bogey. Second bogey coming through 12000, dead ahead 80 klicks.
PILOT: Designate Target 2. Arm missile.
WEPS: HunterSeeker armed. Ideal launch window both targets in 12 seconds.
PILOT (after a pause): Stable platform.
WEPS: Launch window now.

The pilot presses the big red button twice. The missiles leap off the rails. The craft executes a smooth 180-degree turn and starts a rapid climb to maximum altitude.

WEPS: First HunterSeeker in 4 … 3 … 2 … 1 … Impact. Debris. Debris patterns. Target 1 is a hit. Target 2 impact in 4 … 3 … 2 … 1... Debris patterns. Target 2 is a hit also.
